The pictures in the Out of the Foster Care Box photo gallery are the work of award-winning photographer, Arthur Pollock. Arthur is a foster/adoptive parent and a parent by birth. Arthur volunteers his time and expertise to capture the excitement, caring, and playfulness that each of our programs brings out in the kids.
One of my favorite “Arthur Moments” takes place at Camp To Belong MA. We are gathered to watch Arthur’s nightly photo collages, set to fun musical tunes. We are all totally mesmerized by the images flashing before us. Talk about Happy Campers… And Happy Counselors. Sometimes we watch them two times in a row. Then comes the chant: “Arthur! “Arthur!”
There is nothing better than the feeling that floods the room in those moments. I wish I could bottle up that feeling and gift it to every child in care. It’s the feeling of belonging, connection, and joy. A feeling every child should have the opportunity to experience.
Thank you Arthur! We are all deeply grateful for the dignity and honor you bring to the children’s lives.
